Don’t you hate not knowing an efficient, easy way to store your boats? Tired of all the excess space they take up. Well, I have a solution for you! Don’t worry this isn’t some corny infomercial type of deal about some
miracle product. It’s just a simple storage solution that works. So, your hulls
stay “unoil-canned” and your boat stays out of the way.

So, to begin the organization process you’ll have to stop by your local hardware store and purchase inexpensive bike racks like the ones depicted below. Also, you’ll need to purchase some adjustable bungee cords that
will fit around your boat. Make sure they’re not too tight but also not just
dangling there. You’ll need to buy each one of these items for every boat you
would like to organize with this system.

Next, you need to decide where you would like to have your line-up of boats to be stored. You’ll definitely need a big wall space if you have quite a few and also take into account the height because creek boats can
definitely be tall. We chose our garage but that’s just our personal
preference. If you only have one boat just take into the height factor
mentioned above but you can put this simple system anywhere because with one
boat doesn’t take up that much space.

Now you’ll need to spread the two arms of the supports apart to fit the boat. I did this by standing on one of the arms and pulling up on the other until I got it just right. When that is completed you’ll need a drill
to screw in some long screws to attach the bike rack to the wall space you have
selected. It’s best if you screw them into one of the walls 2X4s. I even took
time to bend the rack’s hooks back a bit so the bungee hooks stay on better.
This will take a vise a hammer and some persuasion!

Then attach one hook of the bungee to one side of the bike rack. Stand your boat up on its stern and place it in between the arms on the rack. Now, you’ll take the other end of the bungee cord and extend it around
the side of the boat attach it to the hook on the other side of the bike rack.
Adjust the bungee cord accordingly. Voila, a place for your boat! If you have
other boats you’ll do the exact same things mentioned above. You’ll just place
it adjacent to the other rack and begin your line-up.

Another tip! This is for storing your paddles more conveniently. You’ll need to purchase a broom rack like the one depicted below and load it up with all your paddles. Other types may also work. Voila! Another simple
solution and now you gained even more space.
