2012 will be a year to remember for the Wind River Festival and the Western Whitewater Championship Series!
March 17, 2012 was the original date for the fIfth annual Upper Wind River Festival. With faint memories of last year's high water, rain/snow, cold temperatures, and very few racers, organizers moved the race back one week with the hope of more competitors this year. A low water time of year in the Columbia River Gorge, I am reminded of the great numbers of people that manage to paddle the same river, on the same day, at the same time. Don't get me wrong... as far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier!…Continue

Every year on Halloween, Hood River-ites get together for a costume paddle down the "Green Truss" section of the White Salmon River. This year Jesse and I weren't sure if we were going to make it as we decided to try our hand at racing bikes for the first time ever in the Day of the Dead Super D in Bend, OR the day prior. Turns out it is pretty fun, and worked out pretty well as I placed 1st in the Women's Under 34 category, while my friend and fellow paddler, Rachel Crowder rode…Continue
