A Grand Ethos

Admittedly, I wish it was me that was taking this trip again. But I was happy to see a handful of my friends get their first experiences with the epoch that is a Grand Canyon trip. Dave Hepp, the head of the US National Whitewater Center Paddlesports program, gave me a shout about a month ago asking if he could borrow my Ethos 10 for their 14 day trip.I was happy to help him out, but once again I can't stress enough, I would have rather been going in this boat. My time will come as I have not…See More

First Ever Upper Nantahala Release

Had a great time visiting with folks the weekend of the first official Upper Nantahala release. Despite the huge turnout, both NOC and ERA handled the shuttle situation professionally and efficiently, as if anything else was possible. I did a few top to bottom laps as we had folks of all skill levels in our group that weekend.…See More

Recon Test Drive Upper Gauley

I had the pleasure of paddling the newest addition to the Wave Sport family at Gauley Fest 2012. The Wave Sport Recon will replace the Habitat as the weapon of choice for creeking. This boat will not be limited there as was obvious while paddling on the east coasts big water classic, the Gauley…

Kayak How To: Boat Draining Basics

I am a stickler for the details. It bothers me when I see an instructor leave out even the most minute details for a beginner. Inevitably, as people struggle through the first bit of the learning curve and become more comfortable with their roll, they are going to come to terms with another skill quite quickly, boat…
