I'm new to kayaking and I"m going to get in to some white water this spring. My instructor said I need to get a playboat. I can roll really good in my 10 cross over, but haven't been in a smaller kayak yet. I think the fuse may be a good fit for me. I'm 5'7" and weight 210 with no gear on.
What size should I get being a beginer?
thanks in advance

Permalink Reply by Alan Whitefield on February 13, 2013 at 11:06am I'm not sure about the advice from your instructor. If you are starting to run rivers for the first time I don't think a playboat is a great idea personally. Having said that the Fuse is river play and is actually a very forgiving boat. If you are planning to use it for running your rivers though I'd definitely say the 64 at your weight would be better. The 56, though you would fit, might be a bit more of a handful. I personally think you'd be better with a Diesel 80.
Permalink Reply by jeremy bonnough on February 13, 2013 at 11:15am Thanks for the Reply. I've got about 10- 15 or so hours on the river in my 10' cross over, but only in class 1-2. Maybe I should get into a playboat before I buy one. I hate to buy the wrong thing as I can't buy several boats. I'm thinking I can use cross over for awhile still while working on the playboat.
I'll look at a diesel.
